The Center for Global Studies (CGS) is part of the Walter Benjamin Kollegs of the Faculty of Philosophy & History of the University of Bern. It is a resarch center that addresses current and historical processes of the interweaving and disentangling of human areas of life over large geographical distances and different cultural contexts. The research interests of the center are aligned upon the political, social and cultural aspects of these developments, and on economic and environmental influences. Research on these developments, primarily based on human, cultural and social sciences is investigated within an interdisciplinary framework and a public lecture series. The CGS is also a study center, under which five interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary master’s study programs are offered, in addition to a Bachelor’s program. The Center also offers a doctorate program in Global Studies.
