Bachelor Eastern European Studies

The BA program Eastern European Studies is an interdisciplinary and interuniversity study program. It focuses on the present developments and the more recent history of the European East. In the course of their studies, students primarily engage with topics ranging from disciplines such as history, political science, linguistics, literary studies and social anthropology.

The goal of this BA program is to familiarize students from various backgrounds with the research foundations on Eastern Europe. Students acquire excellent competences in content and methodology in order to address various questions relating to the history and society of Eastern Europe. By honing their research, writing and presentation skills and by working in an interdisciplinary manner, students are trained to tackle complex questions in the field. Moreover, all students learn at least one Eastern European language during their studies.
